  • We support clients of all ages living with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in their homes and in the community per their individualized support plan (ISP).

  • Services are paid through Medicaid for individuals with approved service hours in Oregon. Our agency coordinates with either a county program or a brokerage to provide DSP support.

  • Generally, the process in Oregon begins with contacting your local Community Developmental Disabilities Program (CDDP) and completing the Oregon Needs Assessment (ONA). We can help answer questions, share information about available services, and point you toward helpful state and local resources.

  • State requirements generally include:

    • Completion of an application

    • CPR and First Aid certification

    • High School diploma or GED

    • On-the-job learning and training

    Our onboarding process includes shadowing experienced DSPs, learning daily routines, and guidance on supporting individuals both at home and in the community.

  • A Direct Support Professional (DSP) and a Personal Support Worker (PSW) provide hands-on support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities. The primary difference in Oregon lies in employment and supervision:

    • DSPs are employed and supervised by licensed agencies.

    • PSWs are hired directly by individuals or families.

  • Yes! Many family members are already providing care and support to a loved one and may be eligible to become a paid Direct Support Professional (DSP) for them.
