How to Get Started in Oregon

If you or a loved one may benefit from intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD) support services, the process typically begins through the State of Oregon.

While each situation is unique, these are the general first steps.

1.

Contact Your Local CDDP

In Oregon, services begin by connecting with your local Community Developmental Disabilities Program (CDDP). They help determine eligibility for services and guide individuals and families through the intake process.

Visit the Oregon Department of Human Services eligibility and services page here.

2.

Complete the Oregon Needs Assessment

If eligible, the state uses the Oregon Needs Assessment (ONA) to better understand the level of support a person may need. This assessment is conducted by trained assessors through the state system.
